Background of the study

1.2 Statement of the problem
In the geriatric care setting of Yemmy Care Senior Citizen Home in Ikangba Ijebu Ode, the quality of nurse-patient communication plays a crucial role in shaping the overall satisfaction of elderly residents. However, despite its significance, there remains a gap in understanding the specific nature of the association between nurse-patient communication practices and patient satisfaction within this context. Consequently, the problem at hand is the lack of comprehensive insight into how various aspects of nurse-patient communication impact the satisfaction levels of geriatric patients at Yemmy Care Senior Citizen Home.

By elucidating the dynamics of this association, the study endeavors to provide valuable insights for enhancing communication strategies and improving patient-centered care practices tailored to the unique needs of elderly residents in geriatric care settings.

1.5 Research hypotheses
Null Hypothesis (H0): There is no positive association between nurse patient communication and patient satisfaction in geriatric care setting.
Alternative Hypothesis (H1): There is a positive association between nurse patient communication and patient satisfaction in geriatric care setting.
1.6 Significance of the study

This study focuses to examine if effective nurse-patient communication helps to build trust and comfort in patients leading to patient satisfaction in geriatric care setting, examine if effective nurse-patient communication helps to foster understanding and empathy in patients leading to patient satisfaction in geriatric care setting, and examine if effective nurse-patient communication helps to reduce anxiety and fear in patients leading to patient satisfaction in geriatric care setting. Hence nurses and patients in Yemmy Care Senior Citizen Home Ikangba Ijebu Ode shall serve as enrolled participants for this study.
1.8 Limitation of the study
Like in every human endeavour, the researchers encountered slight constraints while carrying out the study. The significant constraint are:
Time: The researcher encountered time constraint as the researcher had to carry out this research along side other academic activities such as attending lectures and other educational activities required of her.
Finance: The researcher incurred more financial expenses in carrying out this study such as typesetting, printing, sourcing for relevant materials, literature, or information and in the data collection process.
Availability of Materials: The researcher encountered challenges in sourcing for literature in this study. The scarcity of literature on the subject due to the nature of the discourse was a limitation to this study.
1.9 Definition of terms
